When thinking of weather in Hendricks Minnesota, one first thinks of snow and cold. Did you know our average high temp in January, our coldest month, is 22.4 degrees? Even the most finicky would call this brisk, but definitely not cold! It's a joy to be out in January with the sun glimmering on a distant snow bank, pulling your young one on a sled to Don's Bakery. If you consider this a bad day, you're leading a pretty good life.
Our summers feature warm, but not hot, days caressed by the ever-present gentle prairie wind. Every now and then interrupted by the staccato of a prairie thunderstorm. Our spring and fall are distinct and separate seasons, not blending in to summer or winter like other places. Both persist long enough so one can thoroughly enjoy them. Oh the joy of catching the scent of a blooming lilac grove in the spring, or the scent of crisping oak tree leaves in the autumn.
Our four distinct seasons lend a back drop for wonderful memories - tobogganing, picking spring flowers for a bouquet, taking a refreshing swim on a warm summer day, and laying back and watching the flocks of geese and ducks fly south. It's hard to choose which season to like the best!
