The Bogen family family portrait taken a couple years later shows more kids, more cattle, a nicer buggy, and a dog for the children! Their homestead farm is near Lake Hendricks in South Dakota and the foundations are still visible, located near the Orris Hexum farm. |

Hinsvark farm (circa 1880)
Taken just outside of Hendricks, the Hinsvark farm was a typical farmstead back in the 1880's. Scandinavian farmsteads tended to be have many buildings, with horizontal siding. Germanic farmsteads had multi-use buildings with vertical siding. |
