Dr. Leroy Mueller
Dr. Leroy Mueller was chosen the 'Minnesota Family Physician of the Year' in 2000, and deservedly so. Dr. Mueller's medical excellence, compassion, community involvement, and leadership qualities have played a large part in making our town what it is today. When Hendricks celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2000, Dr. Mueller was chosen as our parade's Grand Marshall. Dr. Mueller has delivered over 1500 babies in the area! Along with his wonderful wife Gloria, he has raised four accomplished children.

Steve Hemmingsen
Hendricks is proud to be the second home of Steve Hemmingsen, the longtime face of the region's top rated Kelo-Land News. Steve is the only multiple winner of the Tom Brokaw award, the South Dakota Broadcasters Association's highest honor. He also joins Tom Brokaw, Harry Reasoner, Edwin Newman, and others by receiving the 5 state Northwest Broadcast News Association's 'Mitchell V. Charnley Award.' Other awards include a Silver Circle award for lifetime achievement from the Minnesota Chapter of the National Academy for Television Arts and Sciences Silver Circle award, and a South Dakota Associated Press award for his Janklow trial coverage.

Don Gillund
Don Gillund, the proprietor of Don's Bakery, was a 2003 inductee into the Minnesota Bakers Hall of Fame. Don's specialties include his loafs of bread, long johns, bismarcks, and pastries of all kinds. The Bakers Hall of Fame was established to ensure the memories of outstanding bakers be recognized and preserved, and to honor those who’s hard work and dedication have made significant and outstanding achievements to the baking industry, community, and the American way of life.

Charlene Buescher
Charlene Buescher is a nationally recognized artist providing works for over 30 national galleries. She stars in her own art instruction classes syndicated through the Dish Network. She is best known for a series of bright watercolors with discreetly hidden faces. These watercolors depict grapes, garlic, sunflowers, chickens, and harvest themes. Other works include portraits, landscapes, still life, and animals. Many residents attend her art teaching workshops held throughout year. Charlene has lived in Kuwait, Jamaica, Costa Rica, and many other exotic locales but prefers to live in Hendricks because of the abundance of subject matter for her art.

Richard Froiland
Richard Froiland and his son have helped shave many points from golf scores with their invention, the Right Angle Putter. The putter is one of the most scientifically advanced on the market, enabling golfers to compensate for their dominant eye, which causes all golf balls to appear aligned with the hole when they are truly not. The putter was voted "One of the 10 Best Inventions in Golf" and has won the accolades of many golf professionals.

Scott Wallace
Scott Wallace has produced large-scale public sculptures that are on permanent display across the US. His clients include the University of Central Florida, City of Minneapolis, State of Illinois, Arizona Cancer Center, City of Oak Park, Illinois, University of Arizona, and the State of Wisconsin Percent for Art Program. Some of his works include sculpture #1,
sculpture #2, and
sculpture #3. Scott has taught studio core courses and sculpture in the SDSU Art department since 1995.

Violet Nelson
Violet Nelson is a regional correspondent for the Argus Leader, South Dakota's largest newspaper with a reach of over 250,000 readers. Violet also writes stories for the Hendricks Pioneer, our local newspaper, and has also written articles for hunting and business magazines. In 2001, She was awarded for her short stories by the Minnesota Newspaper Association. In addition to journalism, Violet has worked at the First Security Bank for the past 37 years.

Kenny Midtaune
If you were to judge our town by meeting one person, we would want you to meet Kenny Midtaune. Kenny is a kind and graceful man with an inexhaustible sense of humor. Kenny's dedication and devotion to the community and others manifests itself an abundance of volunteer work around town. Kenny has been noted as a Minnesota Outstanding Senior Citizen and was the winner of the 2001 Hendricks Survivor competition. Kenny proudly served in WW2 and the Japan occupation.

Our Members of Hendricks Kiwanis
The Hendricks Kiwanis Club has earned multiple awards for excellence and service to their community. The club was awarded the 1978-79 International Achievement award for Multiple Service Projects and has also won numerous first place district awards. Current members include 4 pastors, 5 doctors, and numerous others. Kiwanis International, whose motto is "Serving the Children of the World", has more than 8,600 clubs with nearly 300,000 members in 91 nations.
